Bentharleys Stud and Sporthorses is a professional, friendly yard dedicated to producing and developing quality sport horses. We specialise in backing, schooling, competition livery, and sales livery, as well as offering a selection of carefully chosen stallions for stud. Our approach is centred on patience, kindness, and understanding, ensuring every horse is given the time and care they need to thrive. Whether working with young, green, or more sensitive horses, we pride ourselves on creating confident, happy athletes and building strong, trusting relationships with both horses and their owners.
OUR STORY
Bentharleys Stud and Sporthorses began over 20 years ago with a passion for horses and a dream built from the ground up. Our mum started everything at just 18 years old, alongside our dad, when they bought their very first stallion, Charko. From those early days, with hard work, dedication, and a true love for what they do, the stud has steadily grown into what it is today.
Over the years, we have expanded to stand up to 10 stallions, each carefully selected for their individual qualities, professions, looks, and talents. Every horse on our yard reflects our commitment to quality, temperament, and performance.
In the last 7 years, we have continued to build on those strong foundations by developing our services alongside the stud. We now offer backing, schooling, competition livery, and sales livery, working with a wide range of horses—from young and inexperienced to more sensitive or challenging types.
Everything we do is rooted in experience, patience, and genuine care. From our very first stallion to the yard we are proud of today, Bentharleys has always been about producing happy, confident horses and supporting owners every step of the way.
